In one of the most tragic aviation disasters in India’s recent history, Air India Flight AI-171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, 2025. The flight was headed to London Gatwick, but it never made it past the city’s limits.
The aircraft went down at around 1:38 PM IST, crashing into the Meghani Nagar residential area, striking parts of B.J. Medical College's hostel. The impact was devastating.
